Pool Automation Systems
These days just about everything can be controlled using your smart phone. Are you still having to go turn on your heater and adjust your valves by hand? Did you forget to readjust the valves and drain your spa the following day? Did your heater run all night because you forgot to manually turn it off? Don’t fret any longer. PoolSense has you covered with full and partial automation installs. Whether you want to ask Siri or Alexa to turn on your pool heater or are just looking for a simplified way to control and view your system from an app, we’ve got you covered.
When it comes to pool automation in San Diego, we are able to design a system to meet your specific needs. It’s important to note that not all automation systems are equal, and our team is here to help you in choosing which system and which features are most important to automate. If you have any questions about how we might be able to automate your pool equipment, please give us a call.
Types of Automation Systems
Pool automation comes in many shapes and sizes. The simplest of automation can be a digital interface on a variable speed pump that allows you to adjust the flow rate. Whereas more intricate systems allow you to play an ambient light show in your pool while activating your water feature and heater all at the same time with the push of a button from your phone. There are two main types of automation for your pool:
- App accessible controllers
- Automation panels
App Accessible Controllers
App accessible controllers are the most advanced systems available. When considering an upgrade to automation, we highly recommend this. In a nutshell, app accessible controllers allow you to control any aspect of your pool. While this option would have cost a fortune 10 years ago, the systems nowadays are much less expensive and more accessible.
All of the major suppliers including, Jandy, Pentair, and Hayward have automation systems with state of the art applications to go along with them. The applications allow you to access your pools features with the use of your phone. You can access these features anytime you are connected to the Internet. You can do several things such as:
- Heat up your pool or spa from anywhere in the world
- Adjust pool lighting
- Control pump on/off and speeds
- Adjust your salt chlorinator
- Turn on water features (spillway, waterfalls, etc)
These are just a few examples of what you can do with app accessible pool automation. Not only does this offer an unparalleled experience, but it simplifies pool ownership for many. The days of trying to manually adjust your valves is over. Take control of your entire pool experience with automation.
Automation panels can typically do all of the things listed above. The key difference lies within ease of accesibility. An automation panel relies on the user to be at home with access to a panel (usually located on a wall inside of the home). If controlling your pool while you’re away from your home is important to you, this would not be the best option for you. These automation panels are also less user friendly compared to their app-enabled counterparts — most of the technology on the panels is a bit more outdated.
